چکیده
he nasopalatine duct cyst (NPDC) is a condition of nondontogenic development arising from the proliferation of pithelial remnants of the nasopalatine duct, which exists hroughout fetal life, and tends to regress after birth. In ome cases, remnants may remain, proliferate, and give ise to a cyst.1,2 It is a rare condition, usually affecting ales between 30 and 60 years of age.3 It is usually asympomatic, grows slowly, and is detected after routine clinical nd X-ray examinations.4 When swelling, drainage, and pain rom the anterior palate are reported in these lesions, they re associated with secondary infection or pressure on the asopalatine nerve.2 On radiographic examination, the cyst s seen in the midline as a heart-shaped radiolucency in he region of the anterior nasal spine.5,6 The treatment is

Nasopalatine Duct Cyst
The nasopalatine cyst is the most common epithelial and nonodontogenic cyst of the maxilla. The cyst originates from epithelial remnants from the nasopalatine duct. The cells may be activated spontaneously during life or are eventually stimulated by the irritating action of various agents (infection, etc.). It is different from a radicular cyst. The definite diagnosis should be based on clinica...
متن کاملA Case Report of Asymptomatic Glandular Odontogenic Cyst Mimicking as a Nasopalatine Duct Cyst
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Glandular odontogenic cyst is a rare developmental odontogenic cyst which most frequently occures in mandible. According to low incidence and unusual shape and location of this case, we decided to report the case. CASE REPORT: Here we present an asymptomatic case in anterior part of maxilla that radiographically was small and unilacular mimicking as a nasopalatine du...
متن کاملNasopalatine duct cyst developed in association with dental implant treatment: A case report and histopathological observation
Placement of an anterior maxillary implant has a risk of interfering with the nasopalatine canal in the maxilla. This case report presents one of our experiences of a nasopalatine duct cyst that developed in association with a dental implant treatment. A 45-year-old man received an implant in the maxillary left central incisor due to root fracture. Preoperative radiograph indicated no anatomica...
متن کاملA clinical report demonstrating the significance of distinguishing a nasopalatine duct cyst from a radicular cyst.
Endodontic diagnosis is challenging and depends on the organisation of information from the patient history, clinical examination and analysis of the pulp, radiographic and histopathological assessment. A 35-year-old man was endodontically treated for radiolucency in relation to the roots of maxillary central incisors as it was a provisionally diagnosed case of radicular cyst. Since the palatal...
